Progressive Dinner Ride Synopsis |
| Here’s a summary of the great Second Annual Progressive Dinner ride that Northwest Cascades Chapter 154 enjoyed this past Saturday... We gathered at Skagit Powersports in Burlington, Washington following the usual SPS monthly BBQ and after a quick riders meeting we were off at 3PM. For the first leg of the journey we had ten bikes and kept in one group. In this group were Lenny, Danny, Jon and Nate, John G. and Margie, Roy and Gloria, Robert, Zippo and Jax, Patrick, Mark, Jim and (Nate's friend?). We took the Josh Wilson Road to the Farm to Market Road and crossed I-5 at Conway with the lights and traffic cooperating. From there we rode out to Lake McMurray, and took Highway 9 back to Mount Vernon to Jack and Betty's place. Already full of burgers and dogs from the BBQ we couldn't resist sampling salads and appetizers. Debi joined us in her car at this point. Ted also caught up with us and the group was now big enough to divide in two (13 bikes and a car!). Next we took some back streets through Mount Vernon, found our way to the Avon Allen Road and went north on Chuckanut Drive, (Lenny’s group anyway). Jon led the second group and diverted through Edison but made it about ten minutes behind us at Robert and Laurie's home in Glenhaven. After a great plate of spaghetti and garlic bread (yes, we found room!), the two groups headed back to Mount Vernon via South Park Road and Highway 9. Well, that was the plan at first! Lenny’s group stayed on course and Jon's group diverted again (he's been out of the military for too long). Something about his low fuel state so he diverted from the flight plan once again!. We came back together on Highway 9 going through Sedro-Woolley and pulled into Jon and Marty's as one group for dessert. We managed to get cheesecake, apple pie and cookies in our full bellies and enjoyed visiting just as it was getting dark. Ted's bike had a voltage regulator problem but we managed to help him get on the road as we were all heading home. We all had a great time and raised $125.00 for Ladies of the Star charities too. |
